General Information

Lexington Clinic Sports Medicine Center was established in 1983 by W. Ben Kibler, MD and was the first sports medicine center in Lexington.  Lexington Clinic Sports Medicine Center is a comprehensive sports medicine center, offering integrated injury evaluation, operative and non-operative treatment, functional rehabilitation and scientific research; a wellness program offering fitness consultations; and an outreach program of certified athletic trainers to local high schools, colleges, universities, professional teams and community education.  The staff of experienced physicians, physician assistants, certified athletic trainers, strength and conditioning specialist, and physical therapists treat patients in orthopedics, sports medicine, physical medicine & rehabilitation, and physical therapy.

Lexington Clinic Sports Medicine Center has established a local, national, and international reputation for patient care, education and research.  Sports Medicine’s staff has published over 100 scientific articles and five books, 20 book chapters and has given over 600 lectures and presentations. Sports medicine center hosts an annual musculoskeletal symposium that attracts attendees from all over the United States and many foreign countries.  Physicians, Certified Athletic Trainers and Physical Therapists from around the world visit the Lexington Clinic Sports Medicine Center to observe our approach to medical evaluation and rehabilitation therapy.  Lexington Clinic Sports Medicine Center also provides sports medicine/team physician services to four area high schools, four colleges, Lexington Legends professional baseball team, and Lexington Horsemen professional indoor football team and is a consultant for  the U.S. Tennis Association. In addition, Sports Medicine treats over 1,500 patients a year and receives patients from national and international referrals.
